Between 1871 and 1919, Strasbourg belonged to the German Empire. The new administration wanted to create a "new city" next to the old one to welcome the new German immigration and to show the power of the recently created Empire. [WH]

Rebuilt in the early 20th century, this medieval fortress which belonged to several noble families from Alsace. In 1899, Kaiser Wilhelm II became the new owner and decided to restore it to remember the German past of Alsace.
The Alsace vineyard (15,000 ha ; 37,000 acres) is one of the smallest but one of the most productive of France. Along the vineyard for 170 Km (ca. 105 mi), you can try our wines but also discover some fairytale villages.
