Strasbourg, the Alsatian capital city

Strasbourg is the historical capital of the Alsace region. This large metropolis in eastern France, with about half a million inhabitants, can be divided into three remarkable areas: the old town or Greater Island, located on an island surrounded by the river Ill; the imperial district or Neustadt, where one can find countless buildings from the German period (1871-1919); and finally the European district, where some of the most important institutions of the continent are located.

The Greater Island and the Neustadt have been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and form a characteristic urban ensemble in Europe's Rhine region, where we can still admire the traces of the diverse civilizations that have lived there.
